About Me

Biography

My name is Marta and I’m an Official Tourist Guide. I graduated in Tourism at the University of Granada, where I also studied a Master’s degree in Environment and Water Management. My background and training allow me to understand destinations in a global way, recognizing the “meaning of cities” and appreciating their uniqueness. I also have extensive know how and experience in interpreting the historical, cultural and natural heritage.

I consider tourism to be an economic activity which, by respecting customs and our natural environment, is capable of understanding humankind and its cultures in order to generate knowledge and admiration.

I am from Ronda; in Ronda I was born and raised. My professional background in different countries (England, France and Belgium) has enriched my global vision of the world and its cultures, allowing me to improve the knowledge of several languages, although I have always been and will always be in love with my Serranía.

Someone once said:

“I, sir,” I said, “am from Ronda,
a city set on very high cliffs and abrupt rocks,
frequently wrestled by furious westerly and easterly winds”.
Vicente Espinel. “Vida del escudero Marcos de Obregón.

Knowing how to travel

To get to know a place requires time, curiosity and being alert to impulses sometimes perceptible and sometimes not so much. The best option to enjoy a city and discover the “authentic” places is to have a good hostess, an Official Guide to introduce you to the city, who can also recommend what to see, where to eat, where to walk around, or what to visit. I don’t receive any commissions from establishments or businesses, I use my personal experience – just as I do when I travel.
